Wishing You a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

For these holidays, we wanted everyone in the house to celebrate, so we made a little Christmas Fairy Garden with some cotton we had picked at the farm as snow, and Sophie's gingerbread house as Fairy house. If you look carefully, you'll see the second picture has a different house; this is due to the fact that I smashed the first one when I was moving the container! Luckily, the kids went to a gingerbread house decorating party soon after that, and the house was quickly replaced.
And a little bit later, eaten.
A nice and simple way to count the days down to Christmas. The kids didn't even need gifts; pulling a number each day, and counting the days left until Christmas, was enough thrill for them. Love it.
I can't believe it's already been almost a month since these last pictures!
Best wishes to you and yours. May you have fun, love, health and happiness in these last days of the year and the New Year that's almost here.
Cheers from us and our little elves,

Gaby et al.

The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the North Pole (bringing back the Inappropriate Elf)

Did you hear? It seems like those pesky little elves have been demoted. And well, apparently our elf, "Dr. Seuss", was a big fan of the movie "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert", he thinks Felicia Jollygoodfellow and Mitzi Del Bra are super hot; who would have known?

Did I Wish You a Happy Halloween?

Oh, yes, it's come and gone, right? This was a lazy Halloween, since there was too much going on, but it is still my favorite holiday, so we had to do something. Sophie looked very cute in her store-bought pirate costume. I was happy with our store-bought decorations.
And at the last minute, I decided to make a Bam Bam costume for Oliver (since I couldn't find the pirate onesie that I was looking for). It took less than five minutes, and no sewing, but he looked super cute (if I do say so myself).
All I did was cut some brown fleece, draw some triangles with a black Sharpie, and pin it with a huge safety pin that I found lying around (out of the baby's reach, of course).
The log was the body of a styrofoam model plane covered in brown paper and finished with sharpie details. A white onesie, a new stuffed dinosaur and an old pair of Sophie's boots finished the outfit.
He loved handing candies all night long, and the little while he went trick or treating, he tried to give the candy back to the people who gave it to him, ha!
And now I better put away the Halloween decorations and start planning for Thanksgiving.
Cheers,

Gaby

The Fairies Finally Have Their Garden

Yes, the Fairies have their garden, although they had to build it themselves, since Sophie and I kept making things for them, but never managed to put the Fairy Garden together (oh, the busy lives of almost four year olds and moms of two little kids). And lucky us, they built it just in time to enter the Magic Onion's Fairy Garden contest.
It was such a nice surprise.
We even found two little fairies sleeping under some leaves (and we discovered that they turn hard during the day, to be safe from peeping people or animals).

Daddy, You are "Da Bomb!"

Happy Father's Day to the man who, day after day, earns his title with all of its glory.
We got daddy this awesome flower seed bomb kit, from Greenaid Seedbombs and made lots of cards for him.
We also got him a few nice books: "The book of Dads" and "No Fits, Nilson!" (well, that last one was for everyone).
As soon as daddy woke up, he put on his Father's Day T-shirt from last year and was ready to roll.
We love him sooooo much... hasta el infinito, ida y vuelta, ida y vuelta, ida y VUELTA!

And to our dads, and the other dads in our lives, and the rest of the awesome dads out there: Happy Father's Day to you too!!! Hope you had a wonderful day.
Cheers,

Gaby

Cool Stuff, Cool People and a Fairy Garden Kit

I love it when people surprise me with unexpected coolness. Be it an awesome baby's birthday care package (thanks so much, E, S, and little J, we loved it all!).
A sweet and super nice mom at Sophie's gymnastics class, who turned out to be a very talented writer. The hubs said: "You must really like this book; I've found you like this for the last few nights!", after finding me in bed doing everything I could to read a bit more of "How lucky you are", before passing out.
A great artist, like Robert C. Jackson with his balloon dogs (I mean, who doesn't like balloon dogs?!).
A three and a half year old who knows you've had a crappy day and decides to clean up, because she knows it will make you smile.
Or a wonderful family from preschool, who quickly became some of our favorite people here. I felt like we needed to give back a little bit of coolness, so Sophie and I put together a fairy garden kit for the girls. We had a lot of fun making it, and I hope they enjoy it as much as we do.
So to all the cool people out there, thank y'all for the awesomeness (this of course includes all the members of our families, who do everything they can to come and see us, and shower our kids -and us a bit, too- with love).
Cheers,

Gaby

Fairy Teepee Village

A few months ago, when we were longing for spring, we came across these silken pyramid teas, which were perfect for Fairy Teepees (I was excited every time someone had a tea, so we could make one more teepee, but if you are a tea lover, you will probably be excited to drink it too).
The first day it got warm, we built this Fairy Teepee Village:
Unfortunately, soon it got cold again, so we couldn't play there much, but luckily the Fairies figured out a way to keep warm and out of sight.
We are getting excited thinking about our new Fairy Garden too. Hopefully we'll get to make it soon!
For now, I am entering this one in the Fairy Garden Contest at The Magic Onions, just to share the fun with other Fairy Garden enthusiasts.
Cheers, and happy warm weather, finally!

Happy to Be a Mother

Sophie made an "I love Mom" book at preschool. She knows me so well...
... or does she?! :)

I love being a mother. Even though we've been sick on and (almost non-) off for the last six months. Even though I am so tired, that I was happy when I was so sick that I had to stay all day in bed. Even though the baby did a pre-mother's day all over himself (and myself) throw-up on Saturday night, and then came to our bed at 2 am and proceeded to slap me and kick dad, until at 6:15 am he decided it was time to jump with joy and get up.
Fortunately, the day got better as it progressed: Sophie and I put on our wonderful fox and bunny dresses by Boo and had a photo shoot.
Daddy made Oliver giggle until he could not laugh any more.
I just cannot believe how lucky I am to have these wonderful kids, this incredibly generous, thoughtful and handsome husband, this poor old sweet dog... Thank you for making me a mom. I love you with all my heart.
Hope you all had a wonderful Mother's day.
Cheers,

Gaby

Our Baby Turned One!

How sweet and sour... I have no idea how this year passed by; all I know is that I am completely in love with this kiddo...
The cousins (and uncle and aunts) came to celebrate with us, so we had an extra blast.
I bought a lot of special treats for the clown-themed party: the best pierrot clown hats, clown cupcake toppers, tiny pinwheel picks, a balloon animal making kit (inspired by my latest obsession), a ring toss game, a circus photo opp banner, the cutest big top centerpiece, and clown noses and animal crackers for favors. Sophie made a picture of Oliver dressed as a clown, and we used half of a clown nose to finish it up perfectly.
And the most special treats were actually for big sister and myself: some incredible dresses by Boo, from neezapodoma (who is totally awesome).
Well, the kids favorite was actually daddy's surprise bouncy castle :)
We had tons of fun at the party and with the family, thanks to everyone, we love you.
Cheers,

Gaby
