Getting into the holiday spirit

I made these little guys today using clay, acorn caps and cicada wings (collected after the crazy 13-year cicada explosion in the spring).
They could be ornaments, or just sit around the house being merry.

Round (IF)

I had wanted to make something for Illustration Friday for ages, and I was really inspired by this week's topic: Round. So many possibilities... I did lots of sketches, but ended up choosing to put up these little paintings I made long time ago:
I used acrylics on scrap wood. They are silly and I like that :)

Fluffy the bunny

I am not sure if Fluffy by Simone Lia can be considered a children's book, but he is so adorable that when Sophie's uncle A~ got it for us (while Sophie was still in my belly), I decided I had to make one.

Thanksgiving fun

I asked Sophie if she wanted to dress up some of her dolls as turkeys and she was all into it... Well, at least for the first 10 minutes!

Green sandwich and a great book

I have been eating this fantastic sandwich for lunch the last few days:
Alfalfa sprouts, arugula, avocado, cucumber, hummus, mozzarella cheese, salt and pepper. Sophie ate one today, and she had never even wanted to try a sandwich before! YUM-MY!
In the background is the amazing new book by Oliver Jeffers: "Stuck"
We've been having a blast reading it.
What a great artist, we love all of his books, but this is definitely the funniest one. You should get it, you won't regret it :)
Cheers,

Gaby

One of our gifts for daddy on his birthday was tickets to Sophie's first concert: Elizabeth Mitchell. She loves singing her songs and playing "John the rabbit" on my her ukelele :)

Improvised puppets

Sophie received some new stickers in the mail from a friend, and I decided they would make nice puppets (and for once, not end up stuck all over the floors!)
Since there were counts, princesses, pirates, frogs and bees, I had to make a castle (with a treasure chest), a pirate ship and a pond -I am owing her the honeycomb :)

Happy Birthday Daddy Dear!

You are the bestest and we love you so!

Mini bride and groom cake toppers

While looking at bridal magazines with my friend Nayla, we found some super cute wooden cake toppers. I instantly said: "I can make those for you, if you like them!". She did. I was very excited to make them.
